Lime
Okay, so let’s follow on from the talk of antioxidants on the last page. We have discovered that they do an incredibly important job in our bodies right?
Well then take a look at this little green gem because it is packed to bursting with antioxidants, limes have quercetin which we mentioned when talking about apple, but they also contain flavonoids, ascorbic acid, limonoids and kaempferol.
All these things act as antioxidants in the body meaning when you consume lime you are sending in soldiers who can fight off any oxidation in your body before it starts to do any damage.
As limes are high in vitamin C as well they will also help give your immune system a boost but they can also help the absorption of iron into the body, meaning they can be great for people who are anaemic.
Another great thing about vitamin C is that it helps to make collagen.
Collagen is a protein that contributes to healthy skin, bones, teeth. It helps to make up cartilage that is found around the body including between the joints.
Whilst I am not saying that if you eat limes your cartilage will regrow, eating limes shows remarkable benefits for a wide range of people.
